Scholar Description

Hi there! I am Braim C. Luciano Vázquez from Morovis, Puerto Rico. I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus (UPRRP) in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. During my undergraduate studies, I also participated in student exchange programs at the Autonomous University of Madrid (2015) and at Kent State University in Ohio (2016-2017).

As part of the PREP Program, I am working under the tutelage of Dr. Kent Kiehl at the Mind Research Network. I am currently developing a research project focus on the use of neuroimaging as scientific evidence in the US courts who apply the Daubert standard for admissibility of scientific evidence. I will be researching specifically the potential functional neuroanatomical differences between people with schizophrenia and a control group using the technique functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). In addition, I will analyze the complexity of the expert testimony process when testifying whether or not a person committed a crime under a psychotic state. Outside of the lab, I enjoy traveling, exercising and going to the movies.
