I have had many research experiences from working with bacteria to Type I diabetes. out of all the many experiences, my main research interests have been focused on metabolic diseases. My specific researched is focused on “Brown and Beige adipocytes, which dissipate chemical energy as heat via high levels of mitochondrial uncoupling protein-1 (UCP1), counteract obesity by burning lipids.” I love researching on the realm of metabolic diseases because I believe that metabolic diseases is crux that has affecting underlying communities throughout not only New Mexico, but throughout the world. I want to contribute research to the world of metabolic diseases and add a puzzle piece to the mitigation of Diabetes and Obesity.
