Scholar Description
I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Campus in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Cellular-Molecular Biology. During my undergraduate studies, I had the privilege to conduct research under Dr. Mark Miller at the Institute of Neurobiology. Our research focused on central pattern generators and motor behavior in snail species such as Biomphalaria glabrata and Lymnaea stagnalis. Additionally, I was invited to join the UMASS Chan Medical School-SURP Program in the summer of 2023, where I collaborated with Dr. Jie Song on pioneering a project that involved covalently functionalizing poly (ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate (PEGDMA) hydrogel coatings with ampicillin via an oligonucleotide linker sensitive to the micrococcal nuclease of Staphylococcus aureus. As a current member of the PREP program at the University of New Mexico, I am furthering my aspiration to become a physician-scientist through the MD-PhD pathway. Outside of my academic pursuits, I enjoy going to the gym, reading, and watching sports.
