Scholar Description
I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology May 2024 from UNM. I am training under Dr. Coen Adema within the Center for Evolutionary and Theoretical Immunology. My work focuses on investigating the genetics of local snail populations through small scale field surveys. I am also interested in documenting their natural parasites, pathogens, and mucus. Most recently our research has led us to studying micro-mollusc species found in garden soil. (Likely living in your backyard as well!). My goal is to better understand immune defense mechanisms in Stylommatophora. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate as a PREP scholar. I hope to continue my career as a scientist in a way that engages and uplifts our communities here in NM.
